Funding awarded to community organisation engaging young people in the Coventry area

Today saw more projects awarded funding as part of the HS2 Community and Business Funds.

Community interest company, ‘ Empowr-U ’, based in Coventry have been awarded £75,000 to deliver the ‘Own-It’ project. The project will engage with children and young people aged 7-21 years living in Tile Hill, Canley, Kenilworth and Burton Green, by delivering activity sessions in local schools, parks and elsewhere in the community.

Through their engagement, Empowr introduces young people to existing under-used youth provision, builds their leadership skills, and provides them with volunteering and learning opportunities. The project’s ultimate goal is to get young people more involved in their own and other neighbouring communities and one day help to deliver their own projects and events in the community.

You can find out more about the ‘Own-It’ project by visiting www.empowr-u.org/ .

The community and business funds are administered and managed by independent community charity, Groundwork UK. For more information on Groundwork and the funds themselves click here .
