Long Itchington Wood Tunnel - Phase 1 and 2 utilities work

Initial works, for High-speed rail, have now started and are carried out by LM – a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke and J. Murphy & Sons.

LM will be continuing our works to install utilities including power, telecoms and water to the tunnel compound from Harbury substation. We will be pulling cables through which means that we will need to excavate pits within the carriageway to join the cables.

Phase 1 of 5 starts on 13 February to 9 March where Welsh Road will be closed between the Fosse Way and Bascote Heath Road. Phase 2 starts soon after on 17 February until 14 April between Bascote Heath Road past the A425 junction, dates are subject to change.

Please note: Both roads will be closed between 17 February to 9 March due to the locations where cables need to be installed.

Access will still be maintained for households and businesses along both routes. A clearly signposted diversion will be in place. The notification for these works near Long Itchington Wood Tunnel is here to be viewed.

Notice of pipeline diversion works in Chattle hill, south of Birmingham Road, Coleshill

Cadent Gas, will be moving underground gas pipelines in the Coleshill area, to allow for the construction of the new railway and to continue to ensure a safe and reliable gas supply.

Before we start work to move the pipeline, we need to remove some vegetation on land south of Birmingham Road.

We look to avoid removing vegetation wherever possible. In this case, we cannot divert the pipeline without the removal of the vegetation.

Removal of the vegetation will also keep our workforce safe while we carry out the diversions. Appropriate ecological surveys will be undertaken prior to any vegetation clearance being carried out, and our Ecologist will be present throughout the activity to ensure there is no disruption to birds and local wildlife.

The vegetation work will take place in February and until March 2020. The vegetation clearance will take place within our normal working hours, 08:00 am to 18:00 pm Monday to Friday and 08:00 am -13:00 pm on Saturday.
