Temporary, phased overnight lane closures near Stonebridge Island in August and September 2021

As part of our preparation works for future construction of the HS2 Interchange Station and railway route , we are undertaking various environmental surveys in the area. To carry out our surveys safely, we will install traffic measures when necessary.

Subject to obtaining the relevant consents, we will install temporary, phased overnight lane closures from 7pm to 6.30am on Thursday 12 August and Monday 16 August, and from 7pm to 12.30am on Thursday 26 August and Wednesday 1 September, along sections of the A452 and A45 near Stonebridge Island.

Temporary, weekend road closure on short sections of the B4438 and A452 from Friday 13 August to Monday 16 August 2021

We are remodeling and improving sections of the existing road network in the area and creating new routes on HS2 land. These road improvements will ensure that when the future station is operational, the local road network is fit for purpose. Upon completion, a new T-junction will replace Northway Island. A new ‘longabout’ is already in operation outside the Holiday Inn Express NEC, on the way to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC).

We started the creation of the new T-junction in April 2021 . To enable us to continue to connect parts of the existing road network, to the new routes we create, a series of weekend road closures will be installed in 2021 near Northway Island.

To carry out this programme safely, we will install a temporary, weekend road closure on short sections of the B4438 (northbound) and A452 (both directions), near Northway Island, from 8pm on Friday 13 August through to 5am on Monday 16 August. A signed diversion route will be in place for road users during the weekend road closure.

Throughout the closure, there will be temporary changes to access to and from Birmingham Business Park off Northway Island.
