Update on pipeline diversion works near Leicester Lane, Cubbington

To allow for the construction of the new railway and to continue to ensure a safe and reliable gas supply, Cadent will be moving an underground gas pipeline that runs near Leicester Lane, Cubbington. We expect to complete all our work by the end of 2021.

What are we doing?

We started carrying out some preparation works on land either side of Leicester Lane on 8 March 2021. Due to reasons beyond our control, we have had to pause our work temporarily.

We will be re-starting the work on 29 March. The works involve:

• Removal of some vegetation on land north and south of Leicester Lane. Appropriate ecological surveys will be undertaken before any vegetation clearance. Our ecologist will be present throughout the activity to ensure there is no disruption to local wildlife.

• Creating a site access either side of Leicester Lane. We will be using temporary traffic lights on a section of Leicester Lane so we can create our site access safely. Signs will be in place to make people aware.

We will keep local people up to date as we progress to main diversion works.

How will this affect you?

To minimise disruption to local people over Easter weekend, we’ll be pausing work and removing the temporary traffic lights after finishing for the day on Thursday 1 April. We’ll then reinstall the traffic lights and resume work on Tuesday 6 April. We plan to complete our preparation works on Friday 9 April 2021.

Standard vehicles and equipment will be used, and we do not anticipate the works causing significant disruption to local people.
